LAS Faculty Sabbatical Presentations
On Wednesday, November 6th and Thursday, November 7th three Literary Arts and Studies faculty members will be giving sabbatical presentations in the Tap Room. Please see below for the presentation schedule.
Wednesday, November 6th, 12 – 12:30pm, Tap Room
Nicole M. Merola, “‘a foretaste of those icy climes’: Arctic Ecologies and Climate Change.”
Professor Merola’s sabbatical presentation will include images from her recent research trip to the Norwegian Artic and a discussion of her current scholarship on climate change, dark ecologies, and the Anthropocene.
Wednesday, November 6th, 12:30 – 1pm, Tap Room
Joon Lee, “Sugar Puke.”
Professor Lee’s sabbatical presentation will focus on a year of living like an object and writing like a girl.
Thursday, November 7th, 12:30 – 1pm, Tap Room
Alexander Gourlay, “William Blake’s Retrography”
Professor Gourlay’s sabbatical presentation will discuss his research on the techniques used by William Blake, who wrote the texts of his “illuminated books” backwards on copper plates, using acid-resistant ink, and then etched them so that the letters could be printed in relief.
