Patricia Barbeito’s Recent Publication, Reading, Discussion, and Paper Presentation
Patricia Barbeito’s article “Telling the Ewes From the Rams: Economics and Gender Disorder in Petros Markaris’s Inspector Haritos Mysteries” was recently published in Out of Deadlock: Female Emancipation in Sarah Paretsky’s V.I. Warshawski Novels, and Her Influence on Contemporary Crime Fiction. Barbeito read and discussed her translations of Elsa Korneti’s work with Korneti at events at Columbia University and Brown University. She also presented the paper “The Lily-Livered Ogre: Nikos Koundouros’s O Drakos as Anti-Noir” at “Contemporary Greek Film Cultures: An International Interdisciplinary Conference” and “Nothing Feels Right About this Case: Gender Malaise and Economic Disorder in Petros Markaris’s ‘Crisis Trilogy’” at “Greece in Crisis: Culture and the Politics of Austerity.
